Business theatre

Imagine sales managers turning into actors and reading Shakespeare's monologues instead of oil specifications. They are not going to office today. They are going on the stage of Bravo theatre in Kiev, and performing in front of 200 real spectators a play written and directed in 2 days. In the centre of the plot there is a ship run into heavy weather but survived owing to the unity of the crew and its belief in victory. The spectators applaud. The spectators believe. There is no way to trick them.

The business theatre is a unique training project organized by OilGroup and Kiev Training Centre. We have created a new format of educating managers by means of dramatic art. 2 days of intensive training under the guidance of coaches, stage directors and psychographers, and we create our own play with the company's employees playing the roles.

In the business theatre, every manager experiences being an actor, feels stresses and strains of acting on stage for real spectators, discovers their own new facets, surmounts dozens of barriers and hang-ups. Everyone learns to be that much natural and sincere so as to make the audience believe them.

This is how the most valuable management skills are cultivated and team spirit is strengthened.

We carried out three tours of Business theatre in 2012. During two qualifying tours four teams competed for reaching the final. They performed miniatures and sketches built on episodes chosen from various modern pieces and movies such as 'Pi?ce N°27', 'He and She', 'The secrets of Parisian paparazzi', 'Harlequin and Colombina', 'Che Guevara', 'The godfather' etc.

The material is selected in a way so that actors could show themselves in various images. The episodes are balanced in terms of genre: dramatic moments are changed by comic ones and vice versa.

The best actors reached the final, where they played in a common performance based on 'Juno and Avos' rock opera.
